Fun Facts

My First "Real" Program

The first real program I wrote was a space based shoot-em up game for the Apple IIe in the 2nd semester of my high school senior year. This was during computer science class but wasn't part of the curriculum. I can't say I was into the homework. Thanks Mr. Piserchio for the great memories. And thanks for letting me squeak by with an A-!

My First Computer

The first computer I bought, by borrowing money from the parents, was a Macintosh IIx in July of 1989. The prices were as follows (NOTE: I think this includes a university discount):

So in 2009 dollars that would be about $12450. Thanks Mom and Dad! I did repay them once I got a real job.

By comparison, the last machine I purchased has two Intel Xeon DP Quad Core X5472 3.0Ghz 1600Mhz FSB processors, 16gb of 800MHz Fully Buffered DDR2, two 500GB hard drives, and a Sony DRU-840A DL Dual RW Internal Drive. All for a grand total of $4479.32 (Without monitor, keyboard, mouse, or printer). Thanks Colfax International. I highly recommend them. Great machines and great service.

-Developed the graphical user interface for NEAR's unsteady maneuvering aircraft analysis program SHAMAN.
-Determination of the carriage and launch characteristics of the X-43 launch vehicle from the NASA B-52.
-Aerodynamic analysis of the X-34 separation from the L1011.
-Computer system administator.
-Aerodynamic analysis of the deep-stall flight characteristics of the Pegasus XL and X-34.
-Engaged in the development of NEAR's subsonic and supersonic store separation analysis and trajectory code STRLNCH.
-Enhanced NEAR's forebody vortex prediction code VTXCHN.
-Ported and enhanced the graphical display programs for NEAR's MISL3 and STRLNCH codes.
-Assisted in the aerodynamic analysis for the June 1994 failure of the Pegasus XL.
